For 18 - 26 year olds you can stay for 12 - 24 months and receive an allowance of US $195.75 from 23 July 2009, plus own room and free board. You will also receive a US$500 grant paid to a post secondary institution to do a subject.
You will be living with a carefully selected professional family and minding the children for no more than 45 hours a week, while the parents are at work. (There are also some stay at home mothers who require a “mothers help”)
You are not required to do any heavy housework.
Your duties are mainly related to minding the children, doing their laundry, cooking their meals, helping with homework and driving them to and from school and their after school activities.
You have 1.5 – 2 days a week free (mostly in the weekends) as well as two weeks off to travel while still receiving your allowance.
Cost NZ$2750. This includes international air travel, insurance, 3 day arrival conference in New Jersey, help with visas, preparation meeting and material as well as support both in NZ and USA.
At the end of your program instead of returning to NZ you can travel to Britain for no extra cost.
